IndiGo has received the ‘Cleanest Airline in India & South Asia’ title at the 2026 Skytrax World Airline Awards, adding another regional recognition to the airline’s growing list of accolades.
The airline was also named ‘Best Low-Cost Airline in India & South Asia’ and ‘Best Cabin Crew in India & South Asia’ at this year’s awards.
IndiGo Earns Multiple Regional Honours
The 2026 recognition places IndiGo among the airlines highlighted by Skytrax for passenger experience and service standards in the India and South Asia region.
The airline has also been recognised as the leading low-cost carrier across different regional categories, including India, Central Asia and South Asia. According to the information provided, this marks the 16th time in its 20-year history that IndiGo has received the regional low-cost airline award.
IndiGo CEO Willie Walsh said the recognition reflects the airline’s focus on operational performance and providing passengers with a straightforward travel experience. He also credited the airline’s workforce and acknowledged the role of customer support in its continued recognition.
STARLUX Leads Global Cleanliness Ranking
While IndiGo took the regional cleanliness title, STARLUX Airlines ranked first globally in Skytrax’s 2026 cleanliness category.
Singapore Airlines placed second, followed by ANA All Nippon Airways. Hainan Airlines and Cathay Pacific completed the global top five.
The remaining airlines listed among the world’s cleanest included EVA Air, Qatar Airways, Japan Airlines, China Airlines, Korean Air, Malaysia Airlines, China Southern Airlines, Swiss International Air Lines, Hong Kong Airlines, Qantas Airways and Emirates.
Skytrax Awards Based on Global Passenger Survey
The World Airline Awards are based on Skytrax’s annual passenger satisfaction survey. For the 2026 awards, the survey was conducted between September 2025 and August 2026.
The survey covered more than 300 airlines and received responses from approximately 24.8 million passengers representing more than 100 nationalities, according to the information provided.
The awards therefore reflect passenger feedback collected over a year rather than a single assessment of airline performance.
For IndiGo, the latest recognition adds to its regional awards and highlights the airline’s position in several passenger-focused categories as it marks two decades of operations.
